In the palette, you can make settings for the paragraph. The call is made through the settings menu, which you can find in the toolbar under this icon:
If you call the paragraph format, this palette will be hidden and will only become visible again when you close the paragraph format dialog.
Icon bar at the top
The following alignment options for the text are available to you:
- Left-aligned
- Center
- Right-aligned
- Justified
In addition, on the right side:
- Centered justification
- Right justification
- Full justification
Indents

| Left indent for the first line. If you want to create a hanging indent, work with negative values |
Here is a small example of how it works:
Spaces
| Determines the space before a paragraph. The parameter is not evaluated if the paragraph is the first in a text frame. | |
| Determines the space after a paragraph. The parameter is not evaluated if it is the last paragraph in a text frame. | |
| Line spacing within a paragraph. The line spacing can be entered with absolute values or in a percentage value that depends on the font size. |
Hyphenation
This checkbox can be used to turn hyphenation on or off for the currently selected paragraphs.
Copy and paste format
With this function, you can copy paragraph formatting and paste it to a desired location. The copying and pasting occurs independently of the normal clipboard. A formatting can be assigned multiple times via the Insert paragraph formatting button.
