For Your Information: Feature Announcement!

Fonts: In Stylo, there is the so-called new font naming logic. It's not that new: the mechanism dates back to 2016 and has been the standard for new installations for many years. We will no longer support the old logic in the future.
Please check in the administration under "Typography" what settings have been made there. Contact us if the option "New Font Naming Logic" has not been activated, so we can evaluate together how a transition can take place.

Vertical Alignment: In Stylo, there is the old and the new logic of vertical alignment. As with fonts, this new logic is not just outdated. We will deactivate the old logic in Stylo in the medium term.
Please check and revise your templates to avoid conflicts. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Text Flow (Contour Set) – Exclude Objects

It is now also possible to place text frames on objects that have a contour set. In the past, the program tried to apply a contour set to this object as well (which led to overflow). This option is activated through the properties of the text frame. Under "Administration," there is a new checkbox "Consider Text Flow".
 

Tour Editor

With version 2025.8, tours were introduced in Stylo. We now provide you with a tool that allows you to easily create or edit your tours.

Activate Preview by Default

In the Stylo settings, you can now activate the preview by default as a user. Previously, this setting was reset after each new call of Stylo and had to be activated again.

Changes in Administration

We continuously check for attack vectors on Stylo. In the release notes of Stylo, you can see that we have made a number of important changes. As part of this, access to the admin and configuration tools of Stylo has also been tightened:

1. Tenant and admin access will in the future work with two different keys.
2. When saving, it is checked whether the key corresponds to the default key of the delivery state. If so, a notice is issued that this must be changed. If not, the administration change cannot be saved.
3. Different passwords must be assigned for each area. In the future, administration, configuration, and StyloTransfer cannot be accessed with the same keys.

The key for the tenant does not need to be changed. Focus on the access for the management tools. If you also want to change the key for the tenant, please note that this change must also be made in the applications – and this usually involves restarting the application.

Margin Settings – Allowed Objects

There has already been the possibility to control which objects can be placed in the display margin area. You can still find this setting in the object properties for displays in the "Administration" area.

However, since this solution was not very flexible, it has been revised in this version. Now you can specify which objects should not be used in this area. There is a distinction between:

• Text frames (new!)
• Graphics
• Images and image frames (extended)

The text flow (contour set) has been expanded. It is now possible to freely rotate contour set objects and, of course, to modify them afterwards. The function is currently still in Beta. 

2025.12

Previously only in Beta state, but definitely worth a first look. Objects such as ellipses, stars, and polygons can now also be assigned the text flow property. The contour set is called up via the properties dialog, where it can also be determined whether the bounding box should be flowed around or the contours should be determined. 

Existing restrictions are mentioned in the documentation for the individual objects.

It is worth taking a look at the release notes of the version because the requirements have changed with this version.

New Floating Toolbox for Paragraphs

Previously, Stylo users had to select the text to determine the paragraph alignment via a floating toolbox. This is now a bit easier, as soon as the cursor is placed in a text, a mini-floating toolbox appears, allowing you to determine both the alignment and copy the paragraph format.

Copying and pasting via the context menu is now available! 

In addition, we have integrated these functions into the floating toolboxes and the corresponding palettes to enable you to work even more comfortably.

Please note that when pasting external text into your Stylo document, the browser may request a one-time confirmation of the action or display a submenu. These browser settings are beyond our control. 

Notes: To ensure functionality, it is necessary that Stylo is accessed via a secure HTTPS connection. This ensures that you can always work in a protected environment.
By adding this functionality, the icons for transferring formats can now be found on the right side of the dialogs.

Copying and Pasting Graphic Object Formatting

A helpful function has been introduced with the new version that allows you to transfer the formatting of one graphic object to another. This formatting includes various aspects such as margins, areas, and similar design properties. This innovation makes it easier for users to ensure a consistent appearance in their graphics without having to adjust each element individually.

The functionality is available to you in two different ways. On the one hand, you can transfer the formatting via the so-called floating toolbox for graphic objects. This floating toolbar provides quick access to the most important formatting options and allows for intuitive operation. 

On the other hand, the function is also available through the graphic palette, which also supports this transfer function.

Adding Transparency to Background Images

In the past, it was already possible to control transparency through the color settings of the background. However, this function was previously limited exclusively to the color itself, so transparency was only applied to the solid background. 

With the current extension of functionality, this has now changed: When an image is inserted as a background, the set transparency is no longer only applied to the color but also to the image itself.

Copying and Pasting Character Formatting

Through the floating toolbox for text and the character formatting palette, it is now easy to copy and paste character formatting elsewhere. Pasting can certainly be done multiple times.

Drawing Tools

The drawing tools have been reorganized: There is now a clearer distinction between the traditional tools, polygon drawing tools, and pre-made polygon shapes:

Bézier Polygon

With the previous versions, it was possible to create a polygon with Bézier curves. However, the creation of the curves always took place afterwards. Now you can decide when creating whether you want post-processing or want to create a polygon with Bézier curves. As before, you can create both open and closed shapes.

Toolbar: Distinction between Tool Palettes and View Settings

With the version, the previous display menu in the toolbar ("the eye") is split. In the view settings, you will now find:

• AI Tools

The calls for the palettes and catalogs can be found in the settings menu. Please adjust your permission groups accordingly. An icon is now split into two. In the toolbar, you will find the functions here:

Tours: Introduction for End Users

To support new users in their first steps in Stylo, there is the possibility to define so-called tours. These tours are automatically activated as soon as a display template is called. This provides users with immediate assistance and helps them navigate the system better. After the first call, these tours remain available, so users can refer back to them at any time if they need additional information or support. 

The two provided tours are designed to explain the most important functions and operations of the editor and provide guidelines on what publisher-specific tours might look like. 

They offer a comprehensive introduction to the basic tools and options available to users. In addition, they may also contain specific instructions for handling certain publisher templates, which is particularly helpful in meeting the individual needs of users and assisting them in making their projects more effective.

Polygons

In the latest update of the charming display editor Stylo, there is an exciting new feature that will significantly enhance users' creativity. 

From now on, you have the option to draw polygons completely freely, giving you greater flexibility and freedom in designing your graphics. This function is supported by a specially developed tool that you can find in the "New Graphic Objects" menu. With this new tool, you can not only create geometric shapes precisely but also develop individual designs that are perfectly tailored to your needs. 

The simple handling and intuitive functions of the tool enable both beginners and experienced users to quickly and efficiently implement their ideas. As with the line tool, anchor points are simply set by clicking the left mouse button, and drawing a polygon is completed by double-clicking. If you are near the starting point when finishing the polygon, the polygon will automatically become a closed object.

Polygons

The latest updates to polygon editing offer a range of exciting features that make the editing process more efficient and user-friendly. One of the standout innovations is the ability to select multiple anchor points. This function allows users to select and edit multiple anchor points simultaneously, significantly speeding up the editing of complex polygons.

In addition, anchor points can now be individually defined as sharp or rounded. This flexibility in adjusting the anchor point type allows for more precise and creative design options. This is complemented by simplified editing of tangents for anchor points, providing even finer tuning and control over the shapes.

Also newly added is a dedicated floating toolbox for anchor point editing. This intuitive and easily accessible bar simplifies access to all necessary tools and options, making polygon editing even faster and more productive.

Polygons have the ability to be combined with each other to create more complex shapes. This composition is not only an interesting geometric property but also opens up numerous possibilities in design.

Finally, the ability to precisely determine x/y coordinates rounds off the functionality package. This function allows users to position anchor points exactly, ensuring high accuracy in their designs.

Overall, these new features open up extensive creative possibilities for users while simultaneously simplifying the editing process – a perfect combination for anyone working in graphic and design editing. BUT: It should also be kept in mind that the development of the polygon function in Stylo is not yet complete. With subsequent versions of the editor, there will be further functionality.

Convert Text to Graphic

With the latest feature extension in our design tool, transforming creative ideas into stunning visual experiences has never been easier. From now on, you can seamlessly convert the content of text frames into a polygon.

Once the text frame has been converted into a polygon, you can edit this polygon with the same versatile effects as any other polygon in your design. This includes the ability to add fascinating gradients that bring your text to life and give it additional depth and dimension. Furthermore, you can also integrate image motifs into the polygon, allowing for even more creative and personalized designs.

Combine Actions

Actions are a useful tool that allows essential commands to be executed efficiently and quickly via the keyboard. With the introduction of the new version, a significant improvement has been made: it is now possible to combine multiple actions, enabling users to execute several commands simultaneously. This functionality not only saves time but also increases flexibility when editing documents.

A practical example of this new function would be the simultaneous selection of a specific font family and the adjustment of the font size. Instead of executing these two steps one after the other, users can now combine both commands into a single action. This not only improves efficiency but also allows for a smoother workflow, as less time is spent switching between different commands and menus. The ability to execute multiple commands simultaneously thus represents a significant advancement in user experience.

Action "Exit"

With this new action, a keyboard command can inform the partner via the interface that the user wants to exit Stylo.

Polygons

In this version, various predefined polygons are available to you, which you can customize according to your wishes. This means that you have the option to change the shape and properties of these polygons to better suit your specific requirements. 

However, it is important to note that the full range of functions planned for future versions is currently not available. This means that some functions that may be added in later updates cannot be utilized at this time. Nevertheless, this version already provides a solid foundation for working with polygons and making initial adjustments.

Gradient Grids with Transparency

The functionality of gradient grids, which has been available for some time, has now undergone a significant expansion. This new function allows users to create not only color gradients but also gradients that transition to or from transparency. 

The ability to integrate transparency into color gradients allows for softer transitions and complex visual effects that were previously difficult to achieve. This expansion represents an important advancement in design technique and offers numerous new approaches for creative work.

Fullscreen Mode for Stylo

When you click the Fullscreen Mode button, Stylo is switched to fullscreen mode, meaning you can use the entire screen area for your work. All other elements such as display systems or browser bars are hidden. This is particularly useful when you need to focus on details or require a larger overview of your work. To return from fullscreen mode, you can either click the same button again or press the ESC key on your keyboard. This simple operation ensures that you can flexibly switch between views and always maintain control over your work environment.

In the configurator, you have the option to activate a button for fullscreen mode in the permission group. This button is the fourth button from the right in the toolbar. When you click this button, Stylo is switched to fullscreen mode, meaning you can use the entire screen area for your work. This is particularly useful when you need to focus on details or require a larger overview of your work. To return from fullscreen mode, you can either click the same button again or press the ESC key on your keyboard. This simple operation ensures that you can flexibly switch between views and always maintain control over your work environment.
