In Stylo, layers can be used. You can get an overview of the available layers via the layers icon in the toolbar:
This opens a panel that allows the organization of the different layers.
When opening documents with layers, a notification will indicate this circumstance.
Background
If no custom layers are created, generated elements are placed in the "Background" layer. This layer cannot be deleted or moved. The display frame is also in this layer, without being selectable.
When opening documents created with a version prior to 2020.7, all elements are placed in the "Background" layer.
Create/Delete Layer
The icons for adding and deleting layers are located at the top of the panel.
When adding layers (via the +-icon), a new layer is created into which elements can be moved.
Deleting layers is done via the –-icon. If there are still elements in the layer to be deleted, a warning will be issued.
Visibility
With these two icons, you can control the visibility of the layers and objects within Stylo.
Layer Detail View
These symbols allow you to toggle a detail view with all objects of the layer on or off.
Protecting Layers and Layer Elements
With the help of these symbols, it is possible to protect layers and objects from editing.
Move Objects
Objects can be moved between the different layers via drag and drop.
When moving objects within a layer, the order within the layer changes. This makes it easier and more comfortable to change the order of elements than through the "Order" position itself. Additionally, objects that are not visible because they lie outside the bounding box can be identified.
Edit Layer Names
By double-clicking on the name, you enter edit mode and can change the name.
Edit Layer Guideline Color
By clicking on the color button, you can set the guideline color for the layer. All objects in the layer will be displayed with the same guideline color. A color dialog will open for this.
Edit Object Names
Objects can have names to make them easier to identify. When creating layers from older Stylo documents, the text flow names are used as names for text frame objects and the image tags for image frames.
Changing these names in the layer panel does not affect the text flow or the image frame ID. The designation in the panel is only for better orientation.
