Text from a text frame can be converted into a path. The conversion occurs by creating a copy. Changing the text in the text frame is still possible – however, it does not affect the already created polygon(s).
Stylo does not check whether the text is long or short during the action. If text frames with a lot of text are converted using this function, complex polygons may be created that could slow down the system. This may give the impression that the editor is no longer responding. To be clear: The text is not intended for converting longer texts into polygons, but serves as a design tool.
Here are the steps necessary for this action:
- Write text in a text frame and style it.
- Select the text frame.
- Choose the "Text to Path" function from the context menu.
- As a result, you get each individual letter as a separate polygon. This may be desired if the individual letters are to be styled separately. If this is not the case, proceed to step 5.
- Select the "Merge" function from the context menu. This will create a combined polygon from the individual letter polygons.
The created polygon can then be edited with the polygon functionalities and, of course, used for gradients and image backgrounds.
