Toolbar
The toolbar provides important functions that can be accessed directly or through submenus. The appearance of the toolbar is controlled by themes, which are determined via the configurator and the dialog "Your Stylo Settings." The controls for which functions are available are managed through the Stylo configurator.
The presence of submenus in the toolbar is indicated by a small arrow under the respective icon.
1
Burger Menu
Opens a context menu where you can find the functions relevant to the selected element. This corresponds to what is displayed with a mouse context menu call.
2
Selection Cursor
This tool allows you to change the object selection, e.g.
-
If an image frame is selected, this selection is canceled, and instead, the image within the frame is selected.
-
If the image in a frame is selected, this selection is canceled, and instead, the frame is selected.
-
If the text cursor is in a text field, the text cursor is deleted, and instead, the text frame is selected.
-
If a text frame is selected, this selection is canceled, and the text cursor is placed in the text field.
3
Zoom
Select the desired zoom factor. Users can enter the desired zoom factor in the settings under "Your Stylo Settings." Otherwise, the default value from the loaded document is used.
The default values can be set in the Stylo configurator.
4
Undo/Redo
In Stylo, all performed actions are stored in a cache. The maximum number of stored actions depends on the actions taken. Thus, any actions can be undone and redone. Typically, more than twenty-five actions are possible.
If objects are moved with the cursor keys or the mouse, or if their size is changed, not every single change is saved, but only the state before the first change. The same applies to text changes (inserting or deleting text). Undo/Redo is triggered via the function buttons in the toolbar or via the keyboard shortcuts CTRL Z and CTRL Y.
5
Create Text Frame
This icon allows you to create new text frames.
6
Graphic Objects
When you select this symbol, a submenu opens as a window from which you can select additional graphic tools. Currently available are:
-
Rectangle
-
Ellipse
-
Line
-
Star
- Polygons
- Various shapes
7
Load Image
This icon allows you to place images into designated image frames or replace existing images.
8

Displays the Layers Palette on the right side of the Stylo window.
12
Text Settings
If one or more text frames are selected as graphic objects, the floating toolbox for graphic objects usually appears. However, if you want to change text settings and work with the corresponding toolbox, this function will assist you.
13
Resize Text in Displays
The font size can be reduced or increased – usually in 10% increments. The value can be adjusted in the Stylo administration.
14
Fullscreen
This option puts the Stylo window into fullscreen mode. It uses browser functionalities. The advantage of this variant over (15) is that no additional browser window is opened, thus avoiding potential issues with security settings.
15
External Stylo Window
An external browser window opens, where Stylo is called with the current document. This can be helpful if the management interface is too constraining during design. It should be noted that the first call may fail, as browsers recognize it as a popup window and prevent it from opening. In that case, opening from this domain must be explicitly allowed.
16
Export
From this menu, you can access various export options:
-
Manuscript
-
PDF
-
SVG
-
SVG (including effects)
17

-
Your Stylo Settings
Context Menu
The context menu contains Stylo functions depending on the selected object and its state. Restrictions can be set through configuration, determining which functions and values are available.
The context menu is usually accessed via the right mouse button, but it can also be on the left mouse button if the client system has been configured accordingly.
Floating Toolbox
The floating toolbox is offered to you depending on the selection. If text is highlighted, you will get the Text Toolbox, when selecting graphic objects, the Object Toolbox, and if you have selected image frames, the Image Frame Toolbox will be offered. In the Stylo dialog "Your Stylo Settings," the floating toolboxes can be disabled.
If the palettes or dialogs for editing text or objects are open, the floating toolboxes will not be offered.
You can move the floating toolbox using the transporter icon in the upper right corner. The position will be remembered. It will be automatically corrected if the toolbox would extend beyond the edge.
Notifications
In the lower right corner of the Stylo window, notifications are displayed, which indicate either
-
Successes (in green with a happy smiley)
-
Notes (in the theme color with an info icon)
-
Warnings (in yellow with an exclamation mark icon) or
-
Errors (in red with a not-happy smiley)
These are stacked on top of each other and disappear after a short time (errors remain longer than notes and success messages).
Icons
In some cases, Stylo communicates information about the status of the object through icons on the objects:
| Icon | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Deletion not allowed | |
| Text change not allowed | |
| Image change not allowed | |
| Additional icon to show that the rule comes from the Layers | |
| If an object is anchored relatively and cannot be moved manually, it receives this designation when selected. |
You can find a list of the rights functions (position, size, deletion, etc.) here.
